Tell us about your race (limit 500 words)…: I competed in the Patriots sprint triathlon near my home town of Emmaus PA. This Overall victory was extra Sweet as my parents, grandmother, and friends were in attendance.
To say this win was unexpected in an understatement. I arrived in Pa the week before and was in 100% vacation mode. You know how it is, picnics, parties, and hanging out with friends. On top of all that I did the race on a borrowed road bike, a far cry from my felt B2 pro.
Race day came and I decided to just have fun with it. 15th out of the water, 3rd off the bike and ended up first across the line. The most rewarding part of the day was seeing the proud look on my mom, dad, and grandmothers face. You would have thought I had just won a gold medal. After some time to reflect on the race I feel I was rewarded for my overall dedication to the sport and relies life is all about finding the healthy balance.
PS remember if you do a race in the foothills of the Poconos, gently rolling hills will include up hill climes that last a mile and reduce you to the small ring and a flat out and back course will start off with a mile straight down and a mile straight back up to the line.
