Tell us about your race (limit 500 words)…: This was an “A” race for me that turned into a “just go out and race and see what you can do” race because of a nagging foot injury over the past month. I was really nervous for the race because of all the missed workouts and, to be honest, my bad attitude over the past few weeks. I was SO proud of myself, because when I was racking my bike that morning I made the decision to put everything behind me and race. I loved the new attitude and it was the reason I was successful. I rocked the swim with one of, if not the fastest swim splits of all the women (splits aren’t posted yet), I did my first race with true hills and I think I had a great split (again no splits posted and silly me forgot to take the Garmin off the bike in transition), was 2 racks off in transition so lost some good time there (but learned a great lesson in rack counting), and I was able to run the whole 10K without walking, which was huge for me considering all the pain in my foot. I didn’t have my Garmin on the run, so I used the good attitude I had committed to that morning and finished with a race to the finish with a girl gunning me down in my age group…I was NOT going to let her get past me! :) My great attitude is going to stick around and I am going to rock Nationals in September! Thanks Matt and Amy for sticking with me this past month…your great attitudes kept me going on Sunday! :)

I am proud of you but probably not for what you think. I am most proud of you for taking control of your mind and putting it to work for you in a positive way. Anytime you go to battle with another equally strong athlete, the one with the stronger mind will win. PERIOD.

Work your body, but continue to strengthen your mind. It will serve you well on race day.

We are rockin’ and rollin’ this season. Not slowing down anytime soon!

We are coming to Nationals to watch and cheer you on (and do another campus visit!). Great race, and I really wanted to say thanks for helping Katie out when she didn’t feel well afterwards.
