Race Placement/Time/Qualification: 1:04:26 – 6th OA, 1st Masters

Tell us about your race (limit 500 words)…: Another fine race put on by Team Magic. They had both sprint and olympic distance races, both time trial start with the sprint athletes starting first. Transition was in the parking lot of the stadium where the Tenn Titans play. We swam in the river, raced on closed roads and a highway and ran through downtown Nashville. It was a good race venue, alot like the Chattanooga Tri venue.

Our boys and I raced the sprint, with my wife Lisa racing the olympic. It was hot, near 90 by the race start. I was glad I was only racing the sprint. I had a good race and think I could have gone harded on the bike but was distracted by watching racers going the other direction looking for our sons. I had a strong run, passing three others in the Masters division, taking the Masters win by less than 30 seconds.

Our boys had great races, with Alex taking 4th overall, just missing the podium by seconds. Unfotrunately, Lisa was involved in a 4 person wreck on the bike portion, when an unexperienced rider swerved into her taking everyone down. It was pretty scary when the announcer is calling for you and they tell you that they are transporting your wife to the ER. Luckily, she has no broken bones….just a bad black and blue/swollen eye and lots of road rash.
