Tell us about your race (limit 500 words)…: I went into this race with little expectations. I simply wanted to have a solid race before Nationals and try out the road bike Jon and Jo Adamson are letting me use since I am not allowed to use a tri bike for ITU races. The Powell family actually took me up on Tuesday so we got to train in that fun heat in Tennessee (you think it is bad in Georgia!) The swim was a sort of square shape in the river so knowing how to work with the current was very important. Leaving at a time trial start, I never knew if I was going faster than the people in front of me or if someone in the back was catching up. It is just up to how fast you can go. The bike was the most challenging since I have not had much practice on the road bike and the course is definitely more fit for a tri bike. It was an out and back on the highway and we had some good slow inclines going out. The run has the ultimate beginning that we know that we ALL love: a big, steep hill right out of transition. That part was hard to push through, but I got into a good stride for the rest of the run and finished feeling strong. Looking back, I could have run harder and made up a bit more time. I am still happy with my performance and had a great time in Music City. After the race was a lot of fun too with over 15 vendors handing out food and drinks (and yes beer for those 21+ year olds). I would definitely recommend this race to people especially those who enjoyed Chattanooga. Thanks Adamsons for the bike again and we’re proud of you Ms. Lisa for toughing it out on your crash!
