Tell us about your race (limit 500 words)…: 7 months of smart, focused, and often challenging training with Coach Matt, all for naught after 4 consecutive terrible nights of sleep with my kids in their “unatural” surroundings . . . led to a very tired, and slow race day. Right after a “battle the Hudson” swim (in which I placed 81/3975 – so hey, I can actually swim – and thanks, Kloner, for the FAB Xterra wetsuit – it ROCKED!), as soon as I got onto the bike and saw an elevated HR and watt avg 25 below target, I knew I was in for a long day. So why not enjoy a 25mi bike up the West Side Hwy and run through Central Park – and that’s exactly what I did. A special plus was seeing my wife, on her birthday, during the race and celebrating with some post-race Magnolia cupcakes. Some lessons learned, and some great training blocks gained…so back to the drawing board.

Sounds like a fun weekend, MG, and as always your attitude rocks and you made the most of it.
Glad you liked the XTERRA wetsuit, and btw that pic of you on the bike is badAss! That’s a mean looking fit.
