Race Placement/Time/Qualification: 3rd place – Cat 4 Time Trial

Tell us about your race (limit 500 words)…: On a whim, I signed up for the GA Cup race this weekend to get in some good training. The event was a two day, three stage race consisting of a TT, a crit, and a road race. The TT started in Suches, and finished on the top of Wolfpen Gap – yes, ouch. I rode a good effort, and although I had a mechanical on the climb and had to stop to put my chain back on, I finished with a podium stage finish for Cat 4. The road race was a beautiful course that again, started in Suches, descended down towards Blue Ridge, and came back around and again, finished on top of Wolfpen. I was in good position at the base of the climb, but simply didn’t have the legs to stay with the lead group. I found a good rhythm, and worked my way up the field, and finished respectably, but outside the podium. Overall, a great weekend of training, and set some new CP values. For anyone looking for something new in their training, I highly recommend signing up for a GA Cup event.
