Tell us about your race (limit 500 words)…: A nice cool, overcast day in south Georgia . . .water temps in the low 70′s and outside air temps in the high 60′s – oh WAIT – I was having flashbacks to March! Ooops – 89 water temp, and mid-90′s by the over-the-damn run.
Yes, as everyone else said, ’twas a hot day in Paradise. This was a last minute entry for me, a “C” race, so I had a fairly intense training week already. My goal was to work on bike pacing (no fun – had I known how relative rolling the course was before hand, I would’ve gone stronger), but I did have a good day staying within my prescribed zones. The run was hot, and after a week of long cruise intervals, my legs weren’t up for a fast run, but still managed a Top 25ish OA and the spirit of Team Sport Factory members on this painful race-condition day was awesome.
Special kudos to team “cheerleader” Amy, for braving the on-the-dam heat (and smell) on her cruise bike, while entertaining her guests – I mean athletes – along the way!
