Tell us about your race (limit 500 words)…: Are we sure the race was in Georgia? Because it felt like Africa heat out there.

Personally I had the best start that I had ever had. As soon as I heard the word “GO!” i flew into the water. But it didn’t help that the water was 90 DEGREES!!!!the swim wasn’t bad for me though, I felt like I was moving through the water as fast as I could.

Once I hit that ramp, I sprinted up to my bike for an average transition. Some things did not go as smooth as I had hoped.

I felt tired on the bike though, I don’t know what it was but I did not feel 100 percent. Apparently my bike speed was fast but I knew i could have gone faster than I did.

The run was like running through the Sahara. Going out on the run I felt good, but once I hit the turn around, the heat started to come on. I walked at every water station get as much water and gatorade as I could. The dam was horrible the second time around. i tried to go faster so that I could get over it as fast as posible, but when that hill came, walking felt like heaven. I didn’t walk long but it was all the up the bad part.

I was hoping for one last water station to cool off, but when I came around, all the water was gone. That pissed me off enough to make my last mile split under 6:00. When I came to the finish, the one thing that stuck out to me was Sam running to the finish with his camera above everyone’s heads trying to get a picture.

All in all it was a decent day out on the cource. I’m not to happy about the time, but I am happy that I raced hard and got to make a good empression on some college teams. 2:30:00 isn’t too bad for running in heat that could make you melt your face off.

Ha, yeah, it can be hard to get shots of every single person when you don’t know exactly when they’re coming in. Non draft legal triathlon is a pretty tough sport to shoot because you only get so many opportunities to get shots. Hopefully I’ll have the pictures up later tonight.
