Tell us about your race (limit 500 words)…: This was one of those races when it is in between being a good race and a bad race. The race event was great though with a lot of sponsors, good atmosphere, and plenty of volunteers. It started out badly which is never very settling. As soon as my wave (wave 9) was sent off, my timing chip decided to fall off. I scrammbled to try to get it on while everyone swam ahead. When I got off swimming, it fell off again so I just decided to hold onto it for the entire swim (word of advice to those who this may happen to, just stuff it in your suit). Finshed the swim, but with a bad time. The bike was the good part of the race. Despite being on the left side for pretty much the whole time and yelling “On your left!”, it went much better than what I had expected it to be with the sheer number of beginners out there. Since I felt good on the bike, I was hoping to hammer it on the run. I had raced on the exact run course for Emerald Point so I was excited to see what I could do. The start of the run I was feeling good, but it went downhill from there. The combination of heat and staying focused got to me and it was disappointing to end on a bad note. Still got a respectable OA placement, but wish I could have done better. Wanted to congradulate Jo with her AG win, Jennifer with her 9th OA, Kristine Kester who placed 5th OA, and Katie who had an amazing 2nd OA finsh! You girls did a great job!

You handled yourself in a really mature way out there — we are all really proud of you!
