Congratulations to Andrew Lagasse for being accepted into the most prestigious military academy in the world; The United States Military Academy West Point.  Andrew will be the fifth family member to attend the academy.  His brother is currently in his senior year and a member of the West Point Triathlon Team.  Andrew’s father, uncle, and grandfather are all West Point graduates.  Graduates all serve a minimum five year term of service in the Army.

Candidates must meet extremely exacting standards academically, physically, and ethically, and must receive a recommendation from a member of congress.  Andrew is an honor student and distinguished himself as a cross country runner with a 5k PR of 16:23.  He was the first Roswell High male runner to qualify for state in a decade and served as team captain.  He started his triathlon career by winning the Iron Kids National Championship and was an age group Triathlon State Champion.  Andrew got his first job at Roswell Bicycles as a mechanics assistant, and worked his way up to the sales floor.   

On a personal note Andrew is one of the finest young athletes I have ever had the pleasure of coaching.  His work ethic, dedication, and discipline are unparalelled, but he also has a sense of humor that makes him truly enjoyable to work with.   He has helped mentor and set an example for our junior team, and was instrumental in getting the doors to our new performance center opened.  He pitches in where needed and takes initiative without being asked.  In short he is a leader.
