Tell us about your race (limit 500 words)…: This was the hardest half Ironman I have ever done. The swim was beautiful in the ocean and I came out 3rd in my AG feeling really good. The bike course was VERY challenging. Not only was it hilly but the roads in St. Croix are AWFUL! Lots of potholes, beat up roads and sand. You would get up speed on downhills but were cautious going too fast due to the road conditions. I conquered the Beast and came off the bike 1st in my AG! The heat & humidity were brutal and I started to get chill bumps at mile 4 on the run so had to change my race into a training day. The beaches in St. Croix are beautiful. Congrats to Michelle Shoup for qualifying for Kona!
