Tell us about your race (limit 500 words)…: As a native Louisianan, I love getting to head home to do this race. The race folks seemed to have a much better handle on logistics this year.

My time was a 14 minute improvement over last year, so I am pleased with the result.

Still need to work on my swimming. The lake was rougher than anticipated and my sighting was pretty poor. I felt like garbage coming out of the water (and apparently looked like it too…thanks to everyone who provided me with that encouraging tidbit). Thought my pacing was fine, so it may have been due to residual sinus issues or from drinking half of the lake.

I had a slow start to the bike, but had a nice rally after about 10 miles. Finished with a solid run to the French Quarter. Then, back to the parents’ house for ceremonial post race crawfish boil.
