Tell us about your race (limit 500 words)…: I’m on ur campus, gettin’ mah peachtree seed.
Decided to do this race 3 days before it took place just because two people I know were doing the half (Tom Christian, one of my athletes, and Leah Thomas the dietitian at Georgia Tech). Ran into Jonathan Daniels as well.
Anyway, I set out with two goals: Run faster than 36:30 for the seeded peachtree slot, and don’t let my right IT band explode on me. I fell on it about a month ago (don’t over inflate your front tire) and it’s been annoying me making it hard to run. I felt surprisingly good the whole run. Probably took it out just a little too fast, but I am improving my ability to pace by feel. Even after a month of not doing much running, all those mile repeats I’ve done really stuck with me.
Racing flats help a lot also… it makes those last 3 strides / minute so much easier to pick up. Feels like you’re wearing nothing on your feet. Bad thing is I have a massive blister on my left foot. Guess I need to run a little bit more in those things.
35:54 is a PR by a little over a minute. Previous fastest 10K was at St. Anthony’s last year. I hope to keep pushing those 10K times down even more.

Wow! Smokin’. Nice job, Sam.
