Jonathan Daniel
Age :23
I was born and raised in Georgia, I have an older sister who resides in Clearwater, FL and a smelly Bloodhound named Noah. From an early childhood I was very active in sports including baseball, basketball, and competitive swimming. Born from athletic genes, I was lucky enough to excel at many things I tried. My father introduced me to Ironman on TV when I was very young, and it wasn’t until the age of 21 when I became severely burnt out on the typical college lifestyle, that Triathlon entered my mind once more. I took up running and swimming again, and in 2008 entered my first sprint Triathlon, and I was hooked. I completed 9 more races after that and never looked back, constantly making progress. I have done many crazy things in my life, but there is no greater rush to me than pushing my body past what I though it was capable of in a race or in training. My life is very hectic at times between work and school, so this is why I train by myself 99% of the time. For me, intense training is where I feel the greatest connection with my inner self. Whenever I do get a free moment, you can probably find me wrestling with my dog or relaxing with a good book.
My ultimate goal is to qualify for my USAT Pro Card in the next couple of years and eventually win an Iron distance race, and with my very knowledgeable and encouraging coach Brett Daniels, I think this may be a real possibility.
2008 Accomplishments:
2009 Freedom Run 10k – 1st Overall
2008 ATC Run Around the Rock 10 Miler – 6th Overall
2008 Tri2Remember Triathlon – 1st AG
2008 Mistletoe State Park Triathlon – 1st AG
2008 GA Veterans Triathlon – 2nd AG
2008 Callaway Gardens Triathlon – 2nd AG
2009 Goals: I started off this year off great with an Overall Win at the Freedom Run 10k, but my main goals for 2009 are to simply increase my endurance and perform well at all my races. My first Half Ironman will be in September at Ford 70.3 Augusta, and I would really like to place top 3 in my Age Group there. My other notable upcoming races include: ING Half Marathon, Festival of Flowers Olympic Triathlon, Chattanooga Waterfront Olympic Triathlon
