Name: Lauren J. Tomory

Age: 23

Coach: Matt Russ

Personal: Raised in a military family in Okinawa, Hawaii, Japan, England, and Italy, I moved to the U.S. to attend Furman University on a full-tennis scholarship in 2005. I came into running in Richmond, VA in 2008, after winning my first race. After falling in love with the sport, I continued to train over the summer and joined the Cross Country team in the fall. Named to SI’s Faces in the Crowd in 2008, I completed a successful cross-country and tennis season for Furman University. After college I promptly began working in the finance industry where I soon discovered that my passions lie elsewhere. I have recently transitioned into a career in the running industry, which includes coaching and competing. My goal is to obtain the OT Trials mark by the end of 2011.
