Personal: I’m Matthew Schaefer, I live in Norcross Georgia and am going into 11th grade. I have a very supportive family who are also active in soccer, lacrosse and running marathons. I am a lifeguard and swim coach at the YMCA. I like to meet new people and have a good time. I try to stay as fit as i can and work out a lot.
I’m very enthusiastic, have a good sense of humor, and always give it 100% when in the training or racing mode. I’m new at this sport but hoping to excel!

Athletic experience/accomplishments: My background is swimming )summer league since i was 5, and swim Atlanta since i was 11). I did my 1st triathlon at 13 which was an olympic distance and won the under 19 age group and got 7th overall on t1. I am currently on the USAT southeastern junior elite team. I got 3rd overall at the telico sprint state championships last summer. I did a olympic distance in May and got second overall with the fastest swim time. I really enjoy the sport and hopefully one day make the Olympic team and be competitive in Ironman after that.

2010 Goals: I will be mostly racing Sprints and one olympic distance triathlon.

Inspiration: My inspirations are my mom and dad because she is very hard working and dedicated to her marathon training and my dad never gives up and is the hardest working person I know.
