McCambridge Fired Up at Peachtree City!
Jason McCambridge stormed back onto the local racing scene at the Peachtree City Triathlon on 8/22/09 after several months out with an injury. His finishing time of 1:00:30 was enough to edge out 2nd place by just nine seconds, and clinch the overall title in the sprint race. In addition to hard work and determination, McCambridge credits an extra dose of speed on race day to a mound of fire ants which set up camp underneath his transition towel. Nothing like a few fire ant bites to light a fire under your . . . feet! Best of luck to Jason as he continues his preparation for Ironman Florida.
On the women’s side, it was a battle between two junior athletes for the overall title. Katie June, 16, finished 2nd overall, just five seconds behind the 14yr old overall winner! June’s finishing time was 1:07:23, and another solid performance for this young and talented athlete.
Another young athlete with a very bright future, Hannah Meadows, age 14, won her age group by nearly six minutes and just missed the overall podium, finishing 4th overall with a time of 1:09:28.
Mandi Harris took 2nd in the 25-29 age group with a finishing time of 1:14:19.
Sport Factory Coach Holly Marzetti decidedly won the Athena category in 1:18:22. Congrats to Marzetti for not only her category win, but also for her win on the coaching side; Holly has been coaching Katie June for several years and is proud to see her young athlete on the podium!

Great to have you back Jason!
