Tell us about your race (limit 250 words)…: Well this was THE most disappointing race I have had this season (although I am sure that amny people have been through a whole lot worse). It was a very well run race by Team Magic and the people in Guntersville, AL are probably the nicest people I have ever met. I had high expectations going into this race since I had heard it was a fast, flat course and I just got an amazing bike. I did accomplish one on my goals which was to break 20 minutes on the run, but it was the bike that was the huge set back. I didn’t use my gearing correctly so that slowed me down and on top of that I got my first penalty for being “overtaken.”
That cost me 2 minutes which bumped from being 10th overall to 18th overall. And since I didn’t do so well on the bike, I got 2nd in my age group, but congrats to Devon Dabney for having a great race. Hope I can go back and do much better next year.
Hannah- The bike will come. Just keep working hard on it. Don’t be so tough on yourself– this was a great race! You’re still so new to the sport and you have a very bright future. Congratulations on another strong finish and VERY WELL DONE in breaking 20 minutes on the run– wow!! Keep up the good work.

Hannah,
You had a very good race and as long as you learned something from it then it was a great race. The swim was longer than it has been in yrs past, you can tell by the times, the bike is brand new and you’ve got to get used to the gears, set-up, etc…, so you will only get faster. You finished it off with a great run showing that you have the character of a winner! Many would’ve just phoned it in but not you, you finished hard! We will try to get together to ride over the fall/winter and then you can go back and take one of those overall spots!
Hannah — have we ever told you the story about Katie when she first started biking? She wasn’t focused on gearing because she was still learning to get her water bottle out of her cage without steering off the side of the road!!!! Every race is a lesson learned and you are doing great!!!! Mrs. June
