Team SF in Full Force at West Point Lake Triathlon

Team Sport  Factory kits covered the course at West Point Lake Triathlon on 6/13/09.  Athletes from the Club, Age Group, and Elite team were racing, and the energy and cameraderie apparently fueled many teammates to a strong finish.

On the podium for the men were Team Sport Factory Elites Sam Morgan and Dennis Reardon, taking 2nd and 3rd overall, respectively.  Dennis Reardon, who won the event last year, knew he would be facing bigger competition with defending Age Group National Champion Jason Schott (who eventually won the race) and teammate Sam Morgan, who has risen to the top of the local scene fairly quickly.  Reardon said, “I think that the swim was long for everyone due to the current and possibly being pushed off course. I came out of the water with about 10 ahead on the bike. I quickly moved into 3rd place on the bike within the first 5 miles and maintained my place until coming into T2.  I was down 5 minutes on Sam going into the run, and my goal was to bring back as much time as possible on the run. The weather was ideal, especially being exposed on the dam midway on the run. I crossed the finish line 3rd and kept the spot with the time trial start. With the competition, I was happy with my race. I have always enjoyed West Point Lake; Jim Rainey always puts on a well run event. I was glad to see team Sport Factory in full force out on the course.

Sam finished in 2:04:04, with Dennis rounding out the podium in 2:07:59.

From the Age Group Team, congratulations to:  Greg Chiarello for winning the (60-64) age group, Katie June for winning the (16-19), Vallee Ohayon for 2nd in (30-34), Vickie Cherry for 2nd in (40-45), Holly Marzetti for winning Athena, and Jason McCambridge’s team for winning the Relays.
