Sam Morgan 2nd Overall at Macon Half
Team Sport Factory Elite Sam Morgan finished 2nd overall in his first attempt at the half ironman distance at the Macon Rock ‘N Rollman Half on 5/30/09. Sam posted the fastest swim and bike splits of the day, and was barely edged out of the win by former pro triathlete Dan Moss, who finished in 4:16:34. Sam was less than a minute behind, finishing in 4:17:18.
So what does this former collegiate swimmer and up-and-coming triathlete think about the half ironman distance?
Morgan said, “Macon was a big surprise to me. I always thought those videos about people completing IMs or half IMs were kinda cheesy, but I really did surprise myself at Macon. My body did far beyond what I thought it was capable. It was quite an experience.”
He may have surprised himself, but not anyone else. Sam is coached by Sport Factory Coach Brett Daniels. Congratulations to both Sam and Brett on another successful race in what is looking to be a very solid season.
On the women’s side, congratulations to SF Elite Team member Kat Tindol, who finsished 2nd in the (40-44) age group with a 5:14:56.
