Tell us about your race (limit 250 words)…: Myself & Chris Celka of the SF AR Team and Sean Sanders participated in this 48 hour AR in the mountains near Covington, VA. We survived over 25 miles paddling on Lake Moomaw and the Class I-II rapids of the Jackson River, over 80 miles of mountain biking on the forest service roads and trails in George Washington National Forest as well as sweet single track in Douthat State Park and 45+ miles of trekking both on trail and bushwhacking all using map and compass only for navigation. We had to be self sufficient this entire unsupported race so we carried packs of 25lbs the entire time with all gear, food & water. We cleared the course minus 1 CP and were one of only 6 teams to clear the entire optional orienteering section. We finally finished in 44:30 only having slept 50 minutes the entire race. We were very excited to finish with it being our first multi-day race. It was a beautiful course with over 17K ft of elevation gain which included 1 bear sighting & 1 skunk incident. Very Epic race!
