Tell us about your race (limit 250 words)…: This is a great race to boost the ego. Coming out of the water in 14:30 for a 1500 meter swim, definitely shortened the time being out on the race course. From the time trial start, I was chasing Sam Morgan the entire time. I came out of the water in 6th place. With Sam already 3+ minutes ahead, I passed 2 athletes in T1 and moved into 4th heading out on the bike. I quickly passed 2nd and 3rd within the first 2 miles. After that, I was on my own riding in 2nd. There was a chasing group of maybe 10, which I held off coming into T2. I came off the bike about 5 minutes down on Sam. My goal was to bring back as much time on the run as possible. Running out to the 5k turnaround I felt strong and kept looking for Sam. I had passed mile 2 thinking that I was putting good time on him. As soon as we crossed paths, I was expecting to see the TA soon. It seemed to never come. So, by the time I hit mile 4, it was time to shut it down and hold pace. The run definitely ended up hot ,and I was hurting. I’m happy with how my race went; It’s always nice to have a 1:53 on the racing resume. Jekyll is definitely a great destination race, but only if you’re up for some fast racing.
