Personal: I am currently a junior at Centennial High School in Roswell, GA, which means that I am in the middle of taking the SAT, visiting colleges, and figuring out what I want to do with my life. This year will be my sixth season of racing triathlons and my fourth year racing for the Sport Factory. I started swimming competitively when I was 8, but I would use the term “competitive” loosely since my swimming career never really took off. It did, however, lead me to my first triathlon when I was 11, the Iron Kids race in Alpharetta, which was pretty disastrous, to say the least. But despite getting second to last place, I decided to enter a few more races the next summer. I made the choice to stick with the sport after seeing large improvements at every race and realizing that I actually enjoyed training. Over the past few years, I’ve gone from finishing in the bottom few in a youth race in 2004 to winning a national championship in 2009. I hope that the 2010 season brings just as much success as my previous years of racing.
